Working Sustainably
We recognise the impact we as humans are having on our planet. We are committed to
working sustainably and expect our clients to have robust sustainability policies in place. These
can be specific to working on sets, within their offices and also on a more national and global
scale depending on the brand in question.
Our office
As an office we, at Crumb, are committed to the implementation of sustainability
as a fundamental part of the way in which we work. We aim to do this in the following ways and
are constantly seeking new ideas for ways in which we can improve our practice:
- We measure and manage the impact of our day to day business activities.
- We minimise business travel by using alternative methods for meetings such as online.
- We travel to and from work using public transport/cycle rather than private vehicles.
- We promote recycling within our office.
- We monitor the energy efficiency and output of the technical equipment we use.
- We minimise waste by refusing to use plastic bottles, take-away containers and disposable
cutlery.
- We choose carefully what food we are eating for lunch and snacks and aim to eat
sustainable, seasonal, locally sourced produce where possible.
- We do not waste food, printing, paper, electricity, water or heat.
- We use only eco-friendly options for cleaning and sanitary products and reusable where
possible
In our ongoing effort to act and improve on our commitment towards doing every thing we can
within our office to promote sustainability we run regular spot-checks on individual
performance.
Integration of Sustainability into our industry
We recognise that one of the biggest ways we are able to assert change is by ensuring we are
taking the time to understand the impact of the clients that we work with, and how they are
choosing to act.
By learning from each other, and ensuring we are doing everything we can to force practical
action to make improvements, we believe the urgency towards sustainability increases.
We reserve the right not to work with clients who have not taken steps to reduce their carbon
footprint.
As part of accepting assignments, Crumb requires the disclosure of client sustainability policies
at the time of booking.
Our expectations for film/photo sets
At the very least we would appreciate the following considerations to be taken in to affect for
operating sustainably on set:
- Reduced and shared travel where possible.
- Fresh water source provided but a ban on plastic disposable bottles encouraged.
- Catering to be considerate to seasonal and meat-free options.
- Containers and disposable cutlery banned on set.
- Disposable facemasks discouraged.
- Energy efficiency and use of energy efficient equipment.
