Recently AFUA HIRSCH worked alongside an incredible team of creatives alongside Director + Writer, Dumas Haddad, and Cinematographer, Olan Collardy, on their beautiful short film FLOWERS.
'FLOWERS is an afro-futuristic fairytale of love, which follows a ceremony of a son being given away by his mother, to the world, to join his one true love. This whimsical story adopts references to classic Disney stories from the 1930s-50s, modernising tropes with realism for this coming-of-age tale. This film reclaims the magic of that time we all so familiar with: imagining what a black fairy-tale would look and feel like. Through poetic abstract storytelling, elevated throughout by lush cinematic tones and stylised production and costume design, the story follows a prince as he journeys from the confinement of his family home into the harsh reality of the outside world in search of his destiny, to the disappointment of his overlooked brothers.'
